Rules
International Poster Competition
2017
Foreword
The International Poster Competition of Chaumont was
launched in 1990 in order to value graphic poster creation on an international
level. The posters entered by the designers through the competition are behind
this collection that now includes more than 45 000 posters conserved in
Chaumont.
The richness of the Chaumont collections of contemporary
posters together with the collection of illustrated posters of the 19th century
and the vitality of 26 editions of an annual festival have given rise to the
creation of a permanent venue in Chaumont entirely dedicated to graphic design:
le Signe, centre national du graphisme, which opened its doors in October
2016.
The international poster competition will take place in 2017 in the
context of the Biennial of graphic design organized by le Signe, centre national
du graphisme à Chaumont from 13 May to 24 September 2017.
Conditions for
participation
Conditions relating to the author
The international
poster competition addresses all professionals, whether independent or employee,
working in the public or private sector, irrespective of the age, status or
nationality.
Companies and cultural institutions may also enter productions
created in the context of a commission for them as clients, with the
authorization of the author(s), under the condition that the letter of agreement
and the manual donation are duly signed by the authors (cf.
appendices).
Conditions relating to the work presented
The posters
must have been commissioned or been used in a real context.
Only posters
created in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 are admissible, regardless of their
subject, dimensions, commissioners or the number of authors involved in the
creation.
Posters that had already been entered in previous editions of
the competition cannot be judged a second time for the present
edition.
Each author participanting in the competition may send up to 5
projects. The authors may present their work as an individual work or as a
series, in which case a series of pieces is considered as one work. The on-line
registration form allows for this
distinction.
